Guide · After +2 · 3 min read
Study abroad after +2 from Nepal: which country takes you, at what cost.
After +2, Australia, the UK, Cyprus and the Dutch and Finnish universities of applied sciences take Nepali students straight into a bachelor's; Germany usually needs a Studienkolleg year first. Your NEB GPA, your English score and your family's budget decide your options, roughly in that order. With a GPA below about 2.4, a university diploma or pathway into a degree is usually the honest route.

The short version
- Direct entry after +2: Australia, the UK, Cyprus, Dutch and Finnish universities of applied sciences. Germany usually needs a Studienkolleg first.
- Your options depend on three numbers: NEB GPA, English score and budget.
- GPA below about 2.4: a university diploma into year 2 or a foundation year, not a cheap vocational college.
- Cheapest bachelor's routes: Germany (after Studienkolleg), Belgium and Cyprus. Most expensive: Australia and the UK.
- Choose the course from the job you want, then the country.

Lower marks: the honest routes
If your marks are below the direct-entry level, choose a route that ends in a degree:
- A university diploma that leads into year 2 of that university’s bachelor’s (Australia does this well). University-run pathways are assessed as higher education, which had a 68.2% grant rate for Nepali applicants in FY 2025/26, against 37.9% for vocational courses.
- A foundation year into year 1 (UK and Australia).
- A year in Nepal first: start a bachelor’s or a diploma here, with good marks, then apply.
From our files. Rojan Maharjan from Lalitpur came to us in 2023 with a +2 GPA of 2.1, a four-year gap and a relative offering to “show” Rs 40 lakh. We told him not yet. He took a one-year diploma in Kathmandu, worked at a software company, scored IELTS 7.0, and in 2025 started a master’s in Tampere on a 50% scholarship.
Before you choose
- Get your NEB transcript and character certificate ready, and a migration certificate if your college asks.
- Book IELTS or PTE early: most applications need the score.
- Have your parents start their income and tax papers now, not after the offer.
- Read the country guides: Australia after +2, Germany after +2, and the cheapest countries.
