Study abroad after a bachelor's from Nepal: choosing the master's, then the country.
After a bachelor's from Nepal, a master's abroad is open in all 10 countries we cover, and your choice comes down to four things: your CGPA or percentage, how closely the master's follows your degree or work, your English score, and your budget. A one-year UK master's is the fastest; Germany's public universities are the cheapest; Australia gives the strongest work rights after; Finland's scholarships and Denmark's 3-year job search are the best-kept secrets.

The short version
- Four things decide it: CGPA, how the master's follows your degree or work, English and budget.
- Fastest: a one-year UK master's. Cheapest: German public universities. Strongest work rights after: Australia (2 years) and Denmark (up to 3).
- From about 50 to 55% many UK and Australian master's are open; most European master's want 65% or more, or a German grade of about 2.5.
- Work experience can outweigh grades in Denmark, the UK and for MBAs.
- Changing field is possible with a clear reason. A master's that follows your degree reads best to visa officers.

How your grades read abroad
| Your result | Realistic options |
|---|---|
| 70%+ or CGPA 3.3+ | Most programmes in all 10 countries; scholarships in Finland, the UK, Australia |
| 60 to 70% or CGPA 2.9 to 3.3 | UK, Australia, Finland and Dutch applied sciences, many German and Danish programmes |
| 50 to 60% or CGPA 2.5 to 2.9 | Many UK and Australian master’s; Danish programmes that weigh experience |
| Below 50% | A pre-master’s, a related job first, or a postgraduate diploma |
Germany converts your grade with the modified Bavarian formula, and checks that your bachelor’s has the credits the master’s needs.
Same field, or a new one?
A master’s that follows your degree or job reads best to universities and visa officers. Changing field is possible: a BBA graduate moving into data analytics, an engineer into project management. Do three things:
- Explain it in two sentences: what you studied, what you’ve done since, why this master’s.
- Show a bridge: a course, a project, a job that links the old field to the new.
- Pick a programme that accepts other backgrounds, not one that lists specific prerequisite credits.
Work experience: when it beats grades
From our files. Suraj Mahato from Janakpur had a BBA with 62% and three years in sales at a consumer goods company, and had been told Denmark wants first class. We applied to programmes that weigh experience, not only marks, and left out two that didn’t. His statement opened with the numbers he’d moved at work. He’s doing an MSc in Copenhagen.
Choosing by your goal
| Your goal | Countries to look at first |
|---|---|
| Lowest total cost | Germany (public), Finland with a waiver, Belgium |
| Fastest | UK (one year) |
| Work in that country after | Australia, Denmark, Finland, UK |
| Bring a spouse | Finland, Sweden (with conditions); not the UK or Australia for most students |
| Return to Nepal soon after | UK one-year, Germany, Belgium |
