Study in the UK from Nepal

Study in the UK from Nepal: a master's in one year, then up to 2 years to work.

The UK suits graduates who want a recognised master's fast. Most take 12 months, and the Graduate visa gives 2 years after if you apply by 31 December 2026. Year 1 costs about Rs 62.7 to Rs 84 lakh on our shortlists. 91.2% of the 386 UK files we lodged in FY 2025/26 were approved.

The short version

UK in numbers.

The UK is the fastest route to a recognised master's: 12 months for most taught courses, then the Graduate visa to work in any job without a sponsor.

The visa is strict on one thing above all: the funds must sit in your account for 28 days in a row, ending no more than 31 days before you apply. A balance that dips for one day breaks it.

The table has the rules; the process section puts them in order, with dates.

Living in UK

Rent, food, work and weather in UK.

London costs more, and the visa knows it

The visa sets a higher living figure for London. Outside it, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow keep rent lower, and that's where most of our UK students live.

Working while you study

Up to 20 hours a week in term at degree level, and full-time in official vacations. The UK National Living Wage applies to students.

  • Retail, hospitality, warehouses and campus jobs are the most common first jobs.
  • A one-year master's leaves little time to work. Plan your money without relying on it.
  • The Immigration Health Surcharge gives you NHS care for your whole stay.

Your eVisa replaces the old residence card. Set up your UKVI account before you fly, and keep the login: landlords and employers check it.

Jobs after study

On the Graduate visa you can take any job at any level, and no employer has to sponsor you. To stay longer you need a Skilled Worker job with a licensed employer. Health, engineering, IT and data roles have stayed in demand; general business roles are crowded.

Daily life

There are large Nepali communities in London (Woolwich, Aldershot nearby), Reading and Birmingham. Teaching is lecture plus seminar; you'll write more and read more than you did at home, and deadlines are firm.

After the visa

Your first weeks in the UK.

Your first week

Enrol, pick up your student card, sign up with a GP and a bank, and check that your eVisa shows the right course dates.

Your counsellor calls on day 1, and again after week 1, with your parents on the same updates.

Study and work, honestly

A taught master's moves fast: modules, coursework and a dissertation in 12 months. Twenty hours of work a week is the limit, not a target. Missing attendance can put your visa at risk.

After graduation

Apply for the Graduate visa from inside the UK before your student visa ends: 2 years if you apply by 31 December 2026, 18 months after that. Staying longer means a Skilled Worker job with a licensed sponsor.

We stay with you

Your counsellor stays on the file until graduation, for course changes, CAS problems or a landlord dispute. Anything that needs a UK-regulated immigration adviser, we refer.

Honest fit

Should you choose the UK?

Good fit

Choose UK if

  • You have a bachelor's and want a master's in 12 months.
  • You can hold the full funds for 28 days without borrowing them for a week.
  • You want to work in the UK for up to 2 years after.

An honest note

Look elsewhere if

  • You plan to bring a spouse on a taught master's: dependants aren't allowed.
  • You need to work full-time to pay rent during term.
  • Your funds would be a short-term loan parked in an account.

Most UK refusals we see are about the funds, not the student. The 28-day rule is simple and strict. We set the dates in writing before you move a rupee.
