Cost to study in Cyprus from Nepal: tuition, living costs and the rules on work.
At Republic of Cyprus universities, tuition was €7,000 to €12,000 a year on our shortlists, and our students spend about €650 to €950 a month to live. Year 1 costs about Rs 26.4 to Rs 35 lakh. Your university applies for the entry permit, you take medical tests after arrival for the residence permit, and work for students is limited to set hours in named sectors, so plan the year as if you'll earn nothing. Only consider universities in the Republic, never the north.

The short version
- Year 1: about Rs 26.4 to Rs 35 lakh at a Republic of Cyprus university.

Work, honestly
From our files. Alisha Shah from Birgunj was told she could pay her fees from part-time work. Work rights for students in Cyprus are limited to set hours in named sectors. We built her budget as if she earned nothing: her family covered year 1, and a paid placement in year 2 is part of her hospitality course in Limassol. She chose a February intake to save a semester.
Cyprus against other low-cost options
| At a glance | Cyprus (Republic) | Germany (public) | Belgium (Flanders) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tuition a year | €7,000 to €12,000 | €0 plus semester contribution | €4,500 to €12,000 |
| Teaching language | English | English for many master’s, German for most bachelor’s | English for many master’s |
| Entry after +2 | Often direct | Usually via Studienkolleg | Varies |
| Work while studying | Limited, named sectors | 140 full days a year | 20 hours a week |
Cyprus suits students who want a European degree taught in English, straight after +2, and can fund it without work. Make sure the university is in the Republic: the northern Cyprus risk.
