PTE exam fee in Nepal, 2026: the cost in rupees, how to book, and when to retake.
PTE Academic costs USD 220 in Nepal in 2026, about Rs 33,500, paid to Pearson by card when you book online. The test takes about 2 hours, is scored entirely by computer, and results usually arrive in about 2 days, which makes it the fastest of the three tests for a tight deadline. Your bank converts the dollars at its own rate and may add a fee, so the rupee figure on your statement can be a little higher than ours.

The short version
- PTE Academic: USD 220, about Rs 33,500 at the current rate, paid to Pearson online.
- Pay with a dollar-enabled card; your bank converts at its rate and may add a fee.
- About 2 hours, scored by computer, results usually in about 2 days: the fastest of the three tests.
- PTE Academic UKVI is a separate booking, needed only for UK courses below degree level or if your CAS asks.
- Australia's student visa accepts PTE 47 (tests from 7 August 2025). Your university will usually ask for more.
The fee in rupees
| Item | USD | About, in rupees |
|---|---|---|
| PTE Academic | 220 | Rs 33,500 |
| A second attempt | 220 | Rs 33,500 more |
| Your bank’s card fee | Varies | Ask your bank |
At Rs 152.24 per USD (18 Oct 2026). Pearson can change its price; check it the day you book.
Paying from Nepal
Most of our students pay with a dollar-enabled debit or prepaid card from their Nepali bank. A few things to sort out first:
- Ask your bank to enable international online payments on the card, and the limit.
- Load enough for the fee plus the bank’s charge.
- Book on Pearson’s site with the name exactly as it is on your passport.
- Keep the receipt. You’ll need it if a payment fails or you need to reschedule.
If your card is declined, it’s almost always the bank’s international limit, not Pearson.
Booking, step by step
| Step | What to check |
|---|---|
| Create a Pearson account | Your name, exactly as on the passport you’ll bring |
| Choose PTE Academic, or UKVI | UKVI only if your UK course or CAS needs a SELT |
| Choose a centre and date | Leave 2 days for results and time for a retake before your deadline |
| Pay | The card, the limit, the receipt |
| Read the confirmation | Arrival time and the ID you must bring |
Why PTE is fast, and why that matters
| Item | PTE Academic |
|---|---|
| Length | About 2 hours |
| Scoring | Entirely by computer |
| Results | Usually about 2 days |
| Score scale | 10 to 90 |
| Validity | 2 years for most universities and visas |
For a student with an Australian CoE deadline or a UK CAS deadline, those 2 days matter. It also means a retake can be booked and scored within a week or two, if you need one.
When a retake is worth it
| You scored | Do this |
|---|---|
| 1 to 3 points short | Look at which tasks lost points. A week or two on those, then rebook |
| 4 to 10 points short | Two to three weeks on your two weakest skills, then a scored mock first |
| More than 10 short | A full class. Rebooking straight away usually gives the same score |
From our files. Sudip Ghimire from Gulmi needed 50 for his diploma in Melbourne and started at 41. His first real test came back 47, short of his target. He’d attended every class, so his repeat batch was free; he spent half of every class on listening, paid only the second test fee, and scored 58 in May 2026.
The cheapest way to sit PTE once
- Take a free scored level test in the real format first.
- If you’re more than 5 points short, join a class. Ours is Rs 13,500 for 5 weeks, with 6 scored mocks.
- Book the real test only when your last two mocks are at the target.
- Practise with the same headset and microphone setup as the test centre.
Our view
USD 220 is about the same as IELTS, so don’t choose PTE to save money. Choose it if you score higher in its format, or if you need a result fast. Our PTE classes gained +14 points on average last year, and the next batch is free if you attend 90% of classes and miss your target.
